Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso is one of the poorest and least developed countries in the world. Drought, reliance on substance farming and low literacy rates are some of the issues that have negatively impacted the health status of the population. Burkina Faso's rates of maternal, neonatal and infant mortality are among the highest in Africa.

To improve infant and child health and address issues with access to basic health services, TRAction is working on improving Integrated Community Case Management in Burkina Faso.

Policy Analysis of iCCM

Research Overview

Integrated Community Case Management (iCCM) of the leading causes of child death (pneumonia, diarrhea and malaria) is emerging as a policy and programmatic priority for many sub-Saharan countries. While there is a significant body of scientific evidence that supports iCCM, this may not necessarily be translated into supportive policies or programmatic designs that allow for the effective scaling up of iCCM in many countries.
