The Staha Project Local Dissemination Event in Tanzania

Wednesday, February 24, 2016 to Thursday, February 25, 2016
Tanga, Tanzania

On February 24-25, 2016, TRAction partners for the Staha Project organized a dissemination event in Korogwe, Tanga, Tanzania entitled “District Level Dissemination of the Staha Project Results.” The event was funded by USAID and hosted by Columbia University’s Averting Maternal Death and Disability Program, Ifakara Health Institute, and the Korogwe District Council.

The local dissemination event allowed for the sharing of results with project stakeholders and for validation and interpretation of the data. These discussions will guide a national dissemination event, currently being planned for the spring of 2016, to influence a national dialogue around respectful maternity care in Tanzania. The overall goal was to create a sense of ownership by the district health system and local government authorities and to influence policy for scale-up of lessons learned and the processes and tools to improve respectful maternal care.
