Alfonso has provided TA for World Vision’s USG grants’ projects since July 2012.

Alfonso has more than 20 years of international experience in the child survival and reproductive health areas, including field and headquarter assignments. For the last ten years, he has been focused on Facility and Community Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI), providing technical assistance to country programs in Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Philippines, Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Timor Leste, and Kenya.  He has also authored one manual on Community Based-Integrated Management for Childhood Illness (C-IMCI) for CHWs, 6 papers (5 published), and participated in several international conferences on the topic. Since 2002, Alfonso has also been working in the development of maternal and neonatal interventions for hard to reach communities in rural settings and has developed tools for improving resolution capacity for identification and community case management of obstetric and neonatal emergencies, as well as referral systems. Alfonso has served as the Principal Investigator for the TRAction-funded study focused on recognition and care-seeking behavior in Indonesia. More information can be found here.
