Donat Shamba

Social Scientist, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Mr. Donat Shamba, has worked with Ifakara Health Institute since 2004 and has worked with the TRAction project since 2014. He has contributed on issues of maternal, newborn and child health, HIV/AIDS, and development of health system strategy for intervention delivery.   

Mr. Shamba has an MSc in Global Health and Development, from University College London. He is an experienced Social Scientist at Ifakara Health Institute. Mr. Shamba has worked in evaluation of various health system projects since 2004, including the evaluation of intermittent preventive and treatment of infants (IPTi) strategy, Improving Newborn Survival in Southern Tanzania, an exploratory study for designing emollient field trial in Africa (Emollient study), expanded quality improvement using information power (EQUIP), and USAID-TRAction study on Systematic documentation of community-oriented approaches to improve recognition and appropriate care seeking for newborn and maternal complications, among others. He has attended several short courses including Health Policy and System Research at the University of Western Cape, South Africa, Project management and analyses of mixed method studies. He has also published several peer-reviewed articles.
