Dr. Peca  provides technical support for TRAction's research activities, projects, and reports.

Dr. Emily Peca, DrPH, MA, is a global health professional with experience in the areas of mixed methods research design implementation and analysis; research management and technical support; project management; and curriculum development and teaching.  Dr. Peca’s primary area of focus has centered on improving access to and utilization of high quality reproductive maternal and newborn health services in developing countries.  She designed and served as field coordinator for studies seeking to quantify and describe mistreatment of marginalized women during childbirth in rural Guatemala.  Dr. Peca also designed and implemented qualitative research on childbirth and family planning preferences in Western Kenya and supported qualitative data analysis for a multi-country study on immunization uptake in Sub-Saharan Africa.  Dr. Peca has experience collaborating with a variety of organizations, such as universities, non-governmental organizations, research institutions, the World Health Organization, and the United States Agency for International Development. Through engagement with these institutions, she has supported efforts to translate evidence into policy and practice by supporting international consultations, the development of policy briefs and papers, website and social media content, publications and conferences.  Dr. Peca has nearly four years of experience working on the Translating Research into Action project at URC.  Her scope of work involves the advancement of implementation science through technical and research management support to partners.   Dr. Peca has a doctor of public health in global health, a master of public health and a master of international affairs from The George Washington University.  Her bachelor’s degrees are in English and Communication from Boston College.  Dr. Peca is a native English speaker, is fluent in Spanish and has basic Kiswahili language skills.
