Samantha Ski, MA, MPH, DrPH

Dr. Ski provides technical support for TRAction's research activities, projects, and reports.
 

Samantha Ski, MA, MPH, DrPH is well-versed in quantitative and qualitative research methods, and has experience designing and executing several studies examining the effects of health policies at the international, national, and institutional levels. Dr. Ski has worked on a retrospective analysis of PMTCT policy adoption across five countries and development of a policy score; a study to test the effect of policy adoption on PMTCT service delivery outcomes; a budget analysis of diagonal investments in sexual and reproductive health across one country’s Global Fund HIV/AIDS grant portfolio; the design and implementation of a survey exploring the understanding of the global health architecture among country-level practitioners and policy makers; and curriculum design and harmonization across Master of Public Health programs. She led the study design and provided overall support to a study of the implementation of the World Food Programme’s (WFP) HIV/AIDS and nutrition policies across nine WFP country programs. Currently, Dr. Ski is a Technical Advisor with the TRAction (Translating Research in to Action) Project at URC, providing technical support to research studies, monitoring of sub-awards, and reviewing of technical products. In her time with TRAction, Dr. Ski has sharpened her understanding of the processes required to design useful implementation science research studies, foster collaboration among research stakeholders, and communicate scientific findings to broader communities. Dr. Ski holds a Doctor of Public Health and a Master of Public Health from the George Washington University (GW) School of Public Health in Washington, DC. She also holds a Master of Arts in International Development Studies from the GW Elliott School of International Affairs. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Spanish from Butler University in Indiana. She is a native English Speaker and proficient in Spanish.
