Vandana has provided technical support for J-PAL health evaluations since May 2008, and is a co-investigator on 3 large-scale randomized impact evaluations related to maternal health, HIV, and intimate partner violence.

Vandana Sharma earned an Honors Bachelor of Science Degree (Hons BSc) in Biology and Psychology from McMaster University, and a Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) from the University of Western Ontario. As a Hopkins Sommer Scholar, she earned a Masters of Public Health (MPH) focused on International Health and Epidemiology from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. In her current position with J-PAL/MIT, she works closely with J-PAL’s partner offices in Europe, South Asia and Africa to develop, support and collaborate on research projects. She is a co-investigator on a large randomized controlled trial on HIV prevention strategies in Kenya, and a randomized controlled trial of an intervention to reduce intimate partner violence and HIV in Ethiopia. She is Principal Investigator of a TRAction- funded study focused on recognition and care-seeking behavior in Nigeria. More information can be found here.
