Launch of the Health Data Collaborative

Health Data Collaborative supported by a range of partners and initiaives.
Friday, March 11, 2022

The Health Data Collaborative, an inclusive partnership of international agencies, governments, philanthropies, donors and academics was launched this week with the common aim to help countries improve the quality of their data to track progress towards the health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The SDGs are an ambitious set of targets which require measurable and consistent data, owned and driven by countries, to ensure progress is being made to meet these goals. The Health Data Collaborative will help strengthen countries’ capacity to collect, analyze and use reliable health data, empower countries to better understand the status of public health nationally, and use evidence to hold government leaders accountable to meeting the health-related SDGs.

The aim of the collaborative is that by 2024, 60 low income and lower-middle income countries and their donors will be using common investment plans to strengthen health data, and that by 2030 these countries will transition away from international assistance, with sufficient support for strengthening and sustaining health data systems. By providing a common structure for investment plans and health system strengthening the collaborative has the potential to make a major contribution to strengthening implementation science efforts to advance reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health globally.

The Health Data Collaborative was launched in New York on March 9, 2016. Please visit the Health Data Collaborative website to learn more about this effort.
